The purpose of the Victoria and Albert Museum is to enable everyone to enjoy its collections and explore the cultures that created them; and to inspire those who shape contemporary design.

10.00 to 17.45 daily
10.00 to 22.00 Fridays (selected galleries remain open after 18.00. )
Closed 24, 25 & 26 December

Admission to the V&A is free
Some exhibitions and events carry a separate charge

Getting there:

By Foot
Just ten minutes walk from Harrods, Knightsbridge and Hyde Park

By Bicycle
The V&A is just a couple of minutes ride via Exhibition Road from the cycle paths in Hyde Park. Cycle racks are available on Cromwell Gardens immediately to the right of the Grand Entrance and there is a cloakroom just inside.

By Tube
South Kensington (Piccadilly, Circle and District Line) – five minutes walk

By bus
C1, 14, 74 and 414 stop outside the Cromwell Road entrance.
The Open Tour stop outside the Museum as part of their Double Decker Bus site-seeing tour of London

By Road
Cromwell Road is the main A4 route into London from the West

Facilities
The V&A Café offers hot dishes, salads, sandwiches, pastries and cakes, as well as hot and cold drinks, wine and beer.  All food is prepared cooked and on the premises using fresh food, bought daily.

The Café is located in the V&A’s original refreshment rooms, the Morris, Gamble and Poynter Rooms. These three rooms formed the first museum restaurant in the world and were intended as a showpiece of modern design, craftsmanship and manufacturing.

Activities
Every weekend you’ll find Back-Packs and exciting Drop-in-Design events for families. You’ll always find family trails and brilliant hands-on interactive exhibits for you all to enjoy. And for something different, come along to the fantastic special events that happen every school holiday and on other days too.
All family events are free and drop- in.

Drop-in-Design
Every Sunday, 10.30-17.00, Sackler Centre
Hunt for ideas in the galleries, pick up a design challenge and create a crazy teacup, a fantasy door or fancy fashion.  What you make depends on the design challenge of the day.

Take 3 Challenge!
Monday – Friday, 16 – 20 February, Lunchroom, Sackler Centre
Take three materials, a super duper creative challenge and make the most inventive, cool and crazy designs possible.  Free, drop-in.
