Each week FILMCLUB will be bringing you two reviews – a new DVD release and one of the classics that feature on the charity’s 4,000 strong catalogue.
And so you know exactly whether you’ll like it or not, the reviews come from kids just like you!
Below you can read the review of a comedy classic The General by FILMCLUB member James Neeson, aged 12.

Amazing. Hilarious. Brilliant.Β In three words I have managed to sum up this film.
Actually wait a second, I’ve forgotten the most important one. Creative. So, so creative. Add to that that all the stunts in this film were performed by the actual actors and you can see why many people worship Buster Keaton at altars 24 – 7.
Director and creator, doing all his own stunts. This actor is amazing, but his film dwarfs him in its brilliance.
To be honest, I talk during films. Only quietly, but I do. But if I say so myself (and I do say so myself), I hardly talked at all in this film.
I canβt believe this film is almost 90 years old. It is a better film than many of the present age’s blockbusters, and I definitely enjoyed it more than many.
It is rare that such an old film is so fantastic, but this one definitely is.
Rating 5/5 stars, The General (cert U) is out now on DVD
