Morrigan Crow is back and ready for action in the third instalment of Jessica Townsend’s absolutely gripping series. After the adventures of the previous two books, Morrigan is now discovering more about her own powers, how to use them, and what the world around her thinks of them. But just as she’s getting used to learning about the Wretched Arts, a new illness starts to infect the wunimals of Nevermoor. Suddenly, Morrigan finds herself looking for a cure, to save victims of this new Hollowpox.
Jessica Townsend has created a dense and epic world for Morrigan- everything from the friends she’s made to the mystical places she visits are full of wonder. (Or, should I say, ‘wunder’..!). I particularly enjoyed the sentient hotel that Morrigan lives in; I wish my house conjured up magical ice-rinks like hers does! It’s an action-packed book and there’s so much going on- this isn’t one you can quickly skim-read!
If you’ve read the previous books in the series, you’ll be excited to meet old pals like Jupiter North again, plus we get to find out more about the rest of the gang in Unit 919. Morrigan herself is a great lead character – strong, brave, a little flawed (aren’t we all!) and full of gumption. This is an awesome addition to the series, and leaves us wanting more. Which is lucky, because by the end of the book, it looks like Morrigan might have a few more adventures planned…
