Almost 250 years ago the very first Royal Academy of Arts summer exhibition was put on!
Now, nearly 250 years later, the group is still discovering new talent.
The Royal Academy of Arts coordinates the largest open submission exhibition in the world.
Basically, that means almost anyone can submit work to the exhibit and if it’s good, it will be shown.
There are over 1,200 works showing over just eight days.
Everything you’ll see at the Summer Exhibition represents the art being made today.
Expect to find a panorama in all media, from painting, printmaking, film and photography to sculpture, architectural works and performance art.
Exhibition tours are also available. They take 45-minutes and are free with an exhibition ticket, but you have to go at 7pm every Friday from 16 June – 18 August.
Your ticket includes a programme.
Under 16s go free when with a fee-paying adult.
