Tuesday 5th May – Crab Finger Puppet
Fun for all the family. All that’s needed is a glue stick, pen, scissors, cotton bud, egg box and card to make a crab finger puppet at home.
Tuesday 5th May at 6pm – Yoga at the Aquarium
As part of the aquarium’s Facebook Live relaxation sessions, on 5th May at 6pm, the NMA will be hosting a free Ashtanga Yoga session. Karen Jones from Ashtanga Yoga Plymouth, who -pre lockdown- ran a monthly ‘Yoga at the Aquarium’ class, will be leading the online session for the first time. The yoga class is billed as an ‘Introduction to Ashtanga’, a dynamic form of yoga, involving movement and flow in time with the breath; it will be a taster session with information and poses to try and enjoy at home during lockdown.
Wednesday 6th May – Biozone front of house tour
Viewers will get a tour of some of the aquarium’s smaller exhibits. Viewers will have the chance to meet some of the ocean’s most colourful animals and see how the aquarium’s experts look after them. From clownfish to tangs, tune into see some ‘famous faces’ from famous ocean films. Viewers can ask any questions and take time to enjoy the exhibits without the daytime crowds.
Tuesday 12th May – Whale Finger Model
All that’s needed to make a whale finger model at home is a glue stick, different colour card, eggbox and scissors.
Wednesday 13th May – Marine Biologist Q & A
With a team of Ocean experts, viewers will have the chance to ask any questions to the onsite Marine Biologists. From questions about the aquarium’s animals to queries about the best career path, nothing is off limits.
Wednesday 20th May – Turtle Enrichment Time
One of the NMA’s best loved residents is the cheeky Green Turtle ‘Friday’. Get up close and personal with this amazing seaturtle as the team of Animal Experts feed and look after him, plus show viewers how the aquarium uses enrichment to keep him happy whilst there are no visitors at the Aquarium.
Wednesday 27th May – Behind the Scenes Tour
What goes on behind the scenes at the UK’s largest aquarium? Viewers can find out in this VIP look at areas unexplored. It will cover the areas where staff prep the food for the 5,000. Animals. Where do animals go if they’re feeling poorly? Tune in to find out.
Every Saturday – Aquarium Relax
Every Saturday the aquarium releases an ‘Aquarium Relax’ video to chill out and watch the animals at 11am (but can be watched later online too) Watching fish is surprisingly relaxing!
