It turns out that donating horse shoes is a real thing and at The Great Hall in Oakham Castle, Rutland, there’s a unique collection of over 230 ornate ceremonial horseshoes donated by Royalty and nobility such as Dukes, Earls, Viscounts, Barons and Bishops.

The exact origin of this custom is lost to the mists of time, but it continues to this day. Every one of the horseshoes has a story for you to discover.
