Inventor: Earl S. Tupper
Date of Patent: 8th November 1949
More Info:
Tupperware was an invention that boomed because it came about at just the right time.
The plastic container and lid, made from polyethylene, were perfect to store food in the fridge. But in 1949 fridges were only just becoming common in houses, so it was a perfect accesory for somebody’s brand new refrigerator.
Tupperware have had some competition, but kept going strong thanks to clever ideas like ‘Tupperware Parties’ where people would get together and look at a range of Tupperware.
