We love the summer holidays! School is out, we get to hang out with friends, there’s hot weather (most of the time!)
So we thought we should celebrate this with our favourite summer films.
If you fancy chilling out after a day playing with your mates in the park, then here are our top films to help you keep the summer feeling going.
The Goonies (12, 1985)
This is one of the best comedies ever made, following a gang of kids called Goonies’ who try to stop ruthless property developers from building a golf course on their beloved den.
Somehow though they get mixed up in an adventure involving treasure maps, human skulls, crazy gadgets, snogging, murderous crooks and a pirate king called One-Eyed Willie!

12-year-old Rivka, said; “I really liked this film. Even though it was made rather a long time ago it was surprisingly good! It was a mix between a bit of comedy, romance, action but mostly adventure.”
Aled, age 12 said; “The Goonies is a must see movie for all the family, I can’t imagine how much time and effort went into the creation of this magnificent film, it is definitely in my top 5 movie list.”

Riding Giants (12, 2004)
If ever there was a must-see film about surfing, then Riding Giants has to be it!
This documentary introduces you to the birth and growth of this thrilling sport, from where it started in Hawaii over 50 years ago, to the hugely popular activity it is now. Complete with plenty of awesome action scenes and classic footage!

12-year-old Arnav said; “This film was more like a documentary – a good one too! It showed us the history of surfing in an engaging and informative way. There are some outstanding clips and videos, which would look amazing in 3D with the waves and surfers coming at us. It is a superb advert for surfing and has definitely encouraged me to give it a go.”

My Neighbour Totoro (U)
Created by the same people behind films like Spirited Away, this is one of the best animated films of all time.
It’s all about a girl and her sister who move to a forest which is full of friendly spirits, including the very cuddly and massive Totoro!

Addams Family Values (PG, 1993)
Sometimes, you have to look a little closer to find out how a family really works.
Take the Addams Family – on the surface, they’re a collection of ghouls and oddballs who would probably scare you witless but in fact, they’re a loving and big-hearted bunch!
This gothic comedy – based on the TV series – shows the summer holidays in a way you might never have expected!
