Bex has been chatting to author and poet Kiran Hargrave!
Kiran won The Waterstones Children’s Book Prize last year for The Girl of Ink & Stars and her new book is out now.
This one is called The Island at the End of Everything and is a story about love, loss, and friendship.
In the story, Ami lives on Culion Island, where some of the inhabitants – including her mother – have leprosy.
When the government intervenes, islanders untouched by sickness are forced to leave. Ami is banished across the sea, away from the island, with its blue seas and lush forests…
Ami is desperate to return and finds a strange and fragile hope in a colony of butterflies. Can they lead her home before it’s too late?
Bex finds out more and tests Kiran with her quick-fire questions!
