Inventors: Alfred Fielding and Marc Chavannes
Date of Patent: 27th November 1959
More Info:
Bubblewrap was initially thought of when Al and Marc were trying to invent a wallpaper with a plastic coating.
But it was when Marc was landing on a plane, he noticed that the clouds seemed to be cushioning the wings. This gave him the ingenious idea that lots of pockets of air could be an amazing protective wrapping.
From then on the couple patented the idea and Bubble Wrap is used worldwide.
