This is the Mesozoic, spanning from 252 to 66 million years ago.
And there’s one thing that makes this era very, very cool!
That’s right! Dinosaurs!
The Mesozoic era includes three periods – Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous. Did you know that actually most of the dinosaurs featured in the Jurassic Park films are actually from the Cretaceous period?
This era in our planet’s history was full of all different sorts of life forms in various shapes and sizes. That is until a major event happened at the end of the Cretaceous period that made many of the dinosaurs extinct.
No one quite knows what caused this. Most people blame it on a huge meteorite impact from space, but it was most likely caused by many different factors.
