Here’s what Professor Hallux has to say:
Yuck! What a horrible thought! Your skin might not look that grubby but it’s usually covered in a layer of germs, dirt and lots of dead skin cells – every day your body will lose over a million dead skin cells. In the mix you also have sebum – that’s an oily substance which normally makes a helpful barrier against harmful germs.
If you never wash your face, all the dirt, oil and dead skin cells would create a craggy oily swamp on your face which would block your pores and cause spots and itchy skin.
If that doesn’t sound bad enough, it would make the perfect place for bacteria to grow which could lead to skin infections. So THAT’S why you need to wash your face!
When you wash your face, you clear your pores of the build-up of rubbish and this allows the fresh sebum to cover your skin like fresh armour. It only takes a few minutes so no excuses, get scrubbing!
