Safety Seymour at your service!
He’s on a mission to recruit C.O. Safety Assistants to help on my quest to rid homes of a very dangerous threat – CO is Carbon Monoxide!
You can start by thinking about how to stay safe at home…
We keep ourselves safe in our homes in all sorts of ways. But what about dangers that aren’t so easy to see?
Carbon Monoxide is an invisible gas created when boilers, cookers and heaters aren’t burning fuel correctly.
Carbon Monoxide steals the oxygen in the air – so there’s less around for living things, including you!
One of the things we need to do is get it out of our homes – or make sure it can escape outside.
But if you can’t see it, hear it, smell it, taste it and touch it, how can we find it?
A carbon monoxide alarm is a bit like a smoke alarm, but instead of detecting smoke it detects carbon monoxide!
If you get a carbon monoxide alarm, it will beep and let you know when there’s carbon monoxide around.
If you ever hear the alarm, tell an adult and leave the house until it has been checked by a Gas Safe Registered Engineer.
