You alright mate? Charlie Crow here!
Now I see all sorts as I fly about and one thing that really ruffles my feathers is seeing kids playing in quarries. It’s so dangerous! DON’T DO IT!
So what’s a quarry when it’s at home? Well, they’re massive places where rocks, gravel and sand are extracted. These are used to make building materials, like readymix concrete and asphalt.
Some idiots think quarries are GREAT places to bring their BMX bikes, trail bikes – or even quad bikes – you know, those noisy four wheeled ones! Oh they get right on my beak they do!
But if you have a fall and hurt yourself, you could be stuck without help for hours – EVEN DAYS! The ground in quarries can be unstable and mounds can hide a big drop over an edge and unlike me, bikes can’t fly!
If that wasn’t bad enough, remember that those massive dump trucks and loaders aren’t gonna be expecting to find kids on bikes in the way and – if your close to them or they’re reversing – the drivers might not see you from the cab.
You don’t want to be hit by one of them!
What really gets on my beak is that there’s no need to play in quarries – find a skater park or a BMX track with grown up helpers – or visit your local park.
If any of your friends have the bright idea to take their bikes into a quarry tell them they’ve got less brains than a pigeon – and that’s seriously stupid!
