Digital Roads
Think about all the phones, computers, tablets and televisions you have at home. There’s loads right?
Well all of these things get their information through a network of underground cables.
Transmitters at the end of the cables turn videos, sounds and words into a digital code made of ‘ones’ and ‘noughts’. This then gets sent you to through the cable and transformed back into videos, sounds and words.
Some of the information is sent through old fashioned metal cables. But the latest technology means we can send it at the speed of light through fibre optic cables!
