King Henry VIII was a very keen sportsman in his younger days.
He used to play all sorts of sports, some were only really done in the olden days while others we still play today.
Here’s some of the sports played in Tudor times…
Jousting
This was THE sport back in the Tudor times.
Two people would each get on their horse, hold a big long stick and then run towards each other as fast as they could.
They would then run past each other trying to knock the other one off their horse with their big sticks.
Hunting
Hunting is still a thing but this was a huge deal back in the Tudor times.
People loved hunting back then, including King Henry VIII!
People would do almost anything to hunt with the King as it was the perfect time to talk to him about any political agendas you might have as he would always be in such a good mood when hunting.
Tennis
They may not have had The Wimbledon Tennis Tournament back then, but they definitely had tennis!
Wrestling
Wrestling is another one you probably know as it’s still a thing today!
King Henry was a keen wrestler, although wrestling back then was not quite the same as you see on TV now!
