Have a go at planning and designing a show costume for Mickey Mouse on paper, and if you’re feeling extra creative, you could make the real thing!

Let’s get started…

Step 1:

On your paper, draw Mickey Mouse and make a list of materials you’ll need including black, red, and white fabric, scissors, fabric glue, white buttons, black leggings or tights, black ice skates, a black headband with felt or Mickey Mouse ears.

Step 2:

Draw Mickey’s red shorts on your paper. Plan to cut and assemble red fabric into knee-length shorts and include two large white buttons on the front.

Step 3:

Sketch a long-sleeved black shirt and a black jacket. Write down that you’ll make the shirt from black fabric and add a black jacket over it.

Step 4:

Draw Mickey’s tail and ears. Note that you’ll attach a strip of black fabric to the shorts for the tail and use a headband with black felt circles or pre-made Mickey ears.

Step 5:

Sketch the complete costume with black leggings or tights and black ice skates.

Great work young costume designers – you have a plan on paper for Mickey Mouse’s show costume. Get ready to bring it to life and skate like Mickey on Disney On Ice!
