BACK IN TIME

1964

In 1964 the amazing author Roald Dahl wrote a very special book about a young boy who find a golden ticket in his chocolate bar!

Did you know, Charlie and the Chocolate factory was based on Roald Dahl’s experiences of being a chocolate taste tester for Cadbury!
When he was 13, the company would send his school boxes of chocolates, which contained 12 chocolate bars wrapped in foil for the boys to taste test.

The book has sold over 20 millions copies worldwide! So you better give it a read!

1971

The original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory movie was released!

Gene Wilder played Willy Wonka, there were lots of songs and we got to see what an oompa loompa actually looked like!

Although Charlie gets in quite a bit of trouble at the end of this movie!

2005

So in 2005 a new version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was released, but this time it was a little spookier!

Directed by Tim Burton, the man behind Coraline, Frankenweenie and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Johnny Depp plays Willy Wonka and we get to see why he loves Chocolate so much, because his dad was a dentist and refused to ever let him have any!

Why not watch the original movie and then watch the new one and see if you can spot any differences! Here’s one to start you off…Veruca Salt tries to take a golden egg from a goose in the first movie, but tries to take a squirrel from the factory in the second… very strange.
