Tennis player Johanna Konta lost against Aleksandra Krunic at the US Open yesterday.
Konta was one of the favourites to win the US Open and was one of eight women who could have done so!
Her loss means no British number one player lasted longer than the first afternoon. That’s because Andy Murray’s pulled out of the competition due to a hip injury.
Her loss is a surprise because she did very well at Wimbledon.
โHow I did at Wimbledon is not something I bring into every match I play. The tennis season moves on quickly. I had an incredible Wimbledon experience, but I have moved on since then.โ
That said, she didn’t seem too upset with the loss and had some very wise words for people who were asking lots of questions:
“It is a tennis match. It’s a sport. I think to have a healthy perspective on that, in general, goes a long way.”
Konta might next be playing in the WTA Championships in Singapore at the end of the tennis season, depending on how well others do at the US Open.
She might find herself outside the qualifying position, though.
